Rewat Panpipat

Rewat Panpipat is a poet, novelist, and short story writer who received the S.E.A. Write Award in 2004 for his poetry collection Mae Nam Ramluek (Reminiscence of the River). His poems have been translated into English, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Malay, and his short stories have been translated into English; his collection of 20 literary works have earned him a dozen national and regional awards, and in 2014 he received the prestigious Silpathorn Artist Award from the Thai Ministry of Culture’s Office of Contemporary Art and Culture. In 2019, he was selected as an artist in residence at Treasure Hill Artist Village by the Taipei Culture Foundation, and he is currently the only Asian poet selected by the Shanghai Writers’ Association for a two-month residency at the Shanghai Writing Program.

Born in 1966 in central Thailand’s Suphanburi Province, Panpipat often defines himself as a sentimentalist who loves to observe the world and ‘go inside’ himself.
