Vitit Muntarbhorn is a Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University and an eminent expert on human rights. He graduated from Oxford University and the Free University of Brussels. Professor Vitit was awarded the UNESCO Human Rights Education Prize in 2004. He formerly served as UN Special Rapporteur and was a member of UN Commissions of Inquiry on human rights. In 2016, he was designated the first UN Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Professor Vitit has carried out extensive research, policy development and advocacy in the field of sexual orientation and gender identity. He is the author of many publications on human rights issues, including sexual orientation and gender identity. In July 2019, he was awarded the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) for his significant contribution to international human rights.
